Year 7 Book Cover Competition!

Posted: May 26, 2011 in Competitions

Right now the library is running one of the most prestigious and colourful competitions in our events calendar: the Year 7 Book Cover Competition!  This is always an exciting part of Term 2, and many older students will remember designing their own masterpieces in years gone by.  You can see some of last year’s entries in this post, and last year’s winners are here

All of our clever Year 7 students have been hard at work designing covers for their favourite books, and our visiting illustrator Sue de Gennaro is going to pick the first and second prize winners as well as a list of Notables.   There will also be a Librarian’s Award for the design that the librarians like the best.

The most exciting part of the competition, though, is the People’s Choice category, and this is where you get to choose the winner!  Every Uni High student and teacher has the right to vote for their favourite book cover.  The design with the most votes will win a highly-sought-after prize and lots of critical acclaim.  Voting will close on Friday June 3rd, so get in quick!

How to vote, in four easy steps!

1.  Go to the library and have a look at the book cover designs on the walls.  Look carefully: they are all over the library.

2.  Choose your favourite.  Every design has a number on it to identify it: write down this number.

3.  Fill in the form below to tell us the number of the design you like best.  You must include your full name and class (eg Joe Bloggs, 7S3).  Votes that are missing this information will not be counted.

4.  Wait with bated breath for us to announce the winners!  Announcements will be made on the blog and in the library.  There will be a celebratory morning tea and prizes and fame and glory.

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!  WINNERS TO BE ANNOUNCED NEXT WEEK!!  THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH CAPITAL LETTERS OR EXCLAMATION MARKS ON THE INTERNET TO FULLY EXPRESS OUR NEAR-HYSTERICAL EXCITEMENT LEVELS RIGHT NOW!!!
