Inky Awards: You be the Judge!

Posted: May 4, 2012 in Events

Exciting news, everybody!  (And by ‘everybody’, we mean ‘people who like reading massive quantities of YA fiction and having strong opinions about it’.)  The Inky Awards are upon us!

What are these Inky Awards, you may ask?  Well, you could click on the above link to find out, but just in case your mouse is broken or you are using dial-up internet, we will tell you.  The Inky Awards are international awards for teenage literature, as voted by readers of one of our favourite websites, Inside A Dog.  This is exciting because it is quite rare that young adult literature prizes are actually judged by their taget audience of young adults (YOU!).  The awards include the Golden Inky, given to an Australian book, and the Silver Inky, awarded to an international book.  If you want to be a judge and help create the short list, find out about how to apply here

Perhaps most thrillingly, however, there is also a Creative Reading prize for a creative writing response to a book.  This is open to young people between 12 and 18 years of age, and entries are open until the end of May.  You can enter as many times as you like for your chance to share in a pretty impressive $40,000 worth of prizes!  To find out more, check out their website here.
